Outdoor Lighting Maintenance: Keep Your System Shining

A professionally installed landscape lighting system is remarkably low-maintenance, but 'low-maintenance' isn't 'no-maintenance.' A few simple habits keep your fixtures bright, your wiring safe, and your whole system looking as good as the day it was installed.

Keep fixtures clean and clear. Over a season, lenses collect dust, pollen, and grime that dim the light, and growing plants can block or swallow a fixture entirely. Wiping lenses and trimming back nearby foliage restores brightness instantly.

Re-aim fixtures as the landscape grows. Trees and shrubs change shape year over year, and a spotlight that perfectly framed a tree last spring may be lighting empty branches now. Periodic re-aiming keeps the design looking intentional.

Check connections and the transformer. Weather, soil movement, and time can loosen low-voltage connections or expose buried wire. A quick inspection catches these issues before they cause a fixture to flicker or fail, and confirms your transformer and timer are running on schedule.

Upgrade to LED if you haven't already. If your system still uses older halogen bulbs, switching to LED cuts energy use dramatically and means far fewer bulb changes, since quality LEDs last for years.

If you'd rather not crawl around the flower beds, we offer seasonal lighting maintenance that covers all of this — cleaning, re-aiming, connection checks, and repairs. Reach out any time and we'll keep your system shining. Free estimates, always.
